Effect of captopril on renal hemodynamics in the treatment of resistant renal hypertension.

چکیده
The effects of 6 weeks of treatment with captopril on the renal hemodynamics of 16 patients with treatment-resistant renal hypertension (six had diabetic nephropathy, seven had other renal parenchymatous disease, and three had renovascular disease) were studied. Significant changes in glomerular filtration rate, filtration fraction, plasma renin activity, urinary aldosterone, and mean blood pressure were noted in the patients with renal parenchymatous disease, but not in those with diabetic nephropathy. Renal blood flow remained unchanged in all patients. Captopril was well tolerated.

Comparison of aspirin renogram and captopril renogram in the diagnosis of renovascular hypertension
Renal artery stenosis (RAS) is the most common cause of secondary hypertension. Preliminary data indicate that aspirin renography with hippurate may be more sensitive for detection RAS. In this study 20 patients with known or suspected RAS underwent aspirin renography (20 mg/kg orally 1 hour before injection of radiotracer) and captopril renography (50 mg orally) with 99mTc-DTPA. Renal an...
متن کاملThe Mechanism of Preventive Effect of Captopril on Renal Ischemia Reperfusion Injury is Independent of ATP Dependent Potassium Channels
Background: Renal ischemia reperfusion (IR) injury has been a major source of concern during the past decades and angiotensin converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitors have been successfully used to prevent this injury. There have been some controversial reports about the involvement of KATP channels in the mechanism of action of ACE inhibitors. In this study, we examined the effect of KATP channel bl...
متن کاملRenal characteristics and effect of angiotensin suppression in oral contraceptive users.
-The determinants of the increase in arterial blood pressure associated with the use of estrogen-progestogen oral contraceptives (OC) remain poorly known. The purpose of this study was to assess the renal characteristics and the role of the renin-angiotensin system in women with OC-associated hypertension. Urinary clearances of technetium-labeled diethylene triaminopentaacetic acid (glomerular ...
متن کاملEffect of inhibition of angiotensin II with captopril on renal overflow of norepinephrine.
to determine whether endogenously generated angiotensin II (AH) enhances the release of norepinephrine from sympathetic axon terminals in the kidney, the concentration of norepinephrine in renal vein plasma was determined in the dog during renal nerve stimulation (12 V, 3 msec, 5 Hz, for 15 minutes) under control conditions and after administration of the angiotensin converting-enzyme inhibitor...
متن کاملCaptopril in Hpertension After Renal Transplantation.
The experience with captopril is limited in patients who are hypertensive after renal transplantation. An increased risk of side effects has been expected because of immunosuppressive therapy and a reduced renal function. We have used captopril in 58 transplanted patients with hypertension. On previous antihypertensive treatment diastolic blood pressure could not be maintained below 100 mm Hg. ...
